Aluminum tail is taking shape

Getting this bad boy roughed in and tacked together. I'll weld it up and smooth the welds but full metal finishing will wait il until the tank is done too.

Hammer form beginnings

The GS550 cafe racer I'm working on is going to have a hammer formed, raw aluminum tank and tail. All the mounts are welded to the frame and the time has come to start shaping the tail. I made the bottom template yesterday and hammered the base into rough shape.

Dirt Bikes in the Desert

My brother and I haven't had a chance to hang out and do something fun in the better part of two years, so this past weekend I packed up the KTM and drove down to San Diego to pick him up and go for a ride out at Plaster City. I just got a GoPro so this is my first attempt at video as well. Prepare for boredom. On the plus side, you do get to laugh at me crashing and kicking my bike over a million times.

Built something different

So I spent this weekend building something that has no wheels at all.

AK-74 built from Bulgarian parts with a 14.5" barrel with a Battlecomp 1.5 permanently installed for 16" overall barrel length.

Holy Shit... Brake rotor cross drilling

I put my drill press to some damn good use, broke a bunch of bits, and eventually broke the drill press table mounting bolt in the process, but I got the brake rotors for the GS550 cafe bike all cross drilled and ready for surfacing. 192 1/8" pilot holes followed by drilling them all out with a 1/4" bit for final size. Tedious, annoying, but totally worth it.

   

CB750 Progress

I've been tinkering with this 1977 CB750 for the better part of a year now, plagued by the lack of a good workspace. Now that I'm settled down into the storage container, I'd like to finally get it wrapped up. It was a fun runner for a while in a more or less stock state.

Then the transmission shit the bed so I decided to chop it in half.

Then it was a roller for quite some time and not a lot happened with it.

I built a coffin tank and a sissy bar for it and put some 4" over fork tubes. A step in the right direction.

It sat like this for quite some time and now it's finally going to get finished!
